I found this meme and thought it was very true
I have to use a whiteboard software for a project at $DAYJOB, and this week they gave me a popup, filling half the screen, that they have a special offer on AI tokens—for a limited time only!
Like, mate, I log in once a week for half an hour, because I have to. I’m not going to pay anything extra, no matter what you offer.
But I also just do not know why I should want to use AI on a whiteboard. You want to keep texts short on there either way. And drawing diagrams manually is the whole point.
Because it’s a communication tool. We use it to discuss where to draw the lines in that diagram and what to name the boxes, because it represents our real problem space, where these details are crucial.
Genuinely feels like they integrated AI features back when the hype was still in full throttle, and now they need to offset costs, so they’re hoping customers pay for it, even though there’s no actual value to it.
It’s like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut: why upgrade when nutcrackers get the job done simply? It’s all about money (and the simpletons these big companies can dupe into handing it over on the shallow promise of ‘better tech’)
