I finally got hyprland set up and I love to customize my setup. So many keybindings and colors to configure.

You might want to take a look at this

TL;DR: The hyprland creator is a douche, and has enabled a community that fosters racism, hate and transphobia. When met with criticism, he resorted to personal attacks, which have lead to him being banned from a lot of communities.

I suggest giving Sway a try, if you’re looking for fast and customizable tiling WMs.

Well, thats kind of fucked up. However, for now I am staying on hyprland. I finally got to the point, where I am starting to slowly understand what I am actually doing when coding (hyprland is my first encounter with lua). I do not plan to engage with the community as long as I can avoid it.

I had to search way to long to find a trans theme, that is neither to bright/dark (which led to me often not being able to see my tabs properly), that also fits the rest of my color palette. Other trans themes often also had the problem, that they were not designed with vertical tab alignment and the minimum width, so that only the tab icon shows(like I have), so sometimes themes would look absolutely horrible on the left side where my tabs are.

Terms like “rice racer” “rice rocket” and “rice burner” started in US car culture as a pejorative insult for Japanese and Asian import sports cars. The term evolved to “ricing a car” meaning to make cosmetic enhancements that suggest more performance without any actual change in performance, a practice derisively accused of Asian men or drivers of Asian sports cars with decorative modifications.

At some point the term jumped to linux/unix desktops and most people don’t seem to know the origin. It has been discussed in the past https://lemmy.world/post/3769853
