Getting wrapped in a blanket, sitting in front of the PC with a bowl of Nachos with Cheese and playing Factorio while watching or listening to true crime videos/podcasts.

Honestly my nails are so thin and brittle they break if I look at them too hard and painting them myself never stays on for more than a day. If you have strong nails get a gel manicure and if your nails are like mine I get gel with acrylic nails and fill them in every 3 weeks.

Waiting for sun in my area 😔 Lately, on days we get sun, I’ve enjoyed lying down in a sunny patch on the floor and watching the clouds. Pure serenity

    Commissioning artwork.

When I have enough saved up, I go to a friend of mine that’s an artist and make a request, especially if I’ve made a new character recently. It feels like I get to have my imagination put into visible, concrete form.

Recommend me recipes? My problem is that I enjoy the baking more than the eating though haha

I highly recommend basically anything from Sally’s Baking Addiction. I’ve never had one of her recipes fail, and they’ve always come out absolutely delicious to the delight of my family and friends. I also like her site because she actually covers a lot of details about what’s important to pay attention to in each recipe, which substitutions work & which don’t, qualitative as well as quantitative criteria for each step, and both metric and US customary units for ingredients.

Recent award-winners include her Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, Seriously Fudgy Brownies, Maple Pecan Tassies, Gingerbread Cookies, Very Peanut Butter Cookies, and multiple cheesecakes based on her classic recipe.

I also recently made Claire Saffitz’s chocolate layer cake that was featured in NYT Cooking.

I’ve never had one, but I’ve been considering getting a sports massage. Do you have a specific type of massage that you like? What do you look for in a masseur/clinic?

You’ll have to try different things to find what you like! I get a lot of deep tissue and therapeutic work done.
I also am a massage therapist, so I’d be happy to answer any questions!

Thanks, I will look those up!

Hmm, I guess my main question is what I should know before booking a massage and what red flags to look out for? I also recall reading somewhere that you have to get massages regularly to get the full benefit of them, like weekly/monthly, is that true?

I’m not a fan of a place that will book you same day. Also avoid sketchy looking places, if you’re looking for a reputable massage, not sex work. Also red flags are someone who doesn’t listen to your concerns, someone who promises they can fix everything, and (for me) a generic place where they won’t tailor things to your needs. As far as benefits go, there can be a benefit from going a single time! Depends what you’re looking for. If you have ongoing issues that’s your like to work on, regular massage is great!
Finding the right massage therapist is like finding the right therapist (if you haven’t done that either, there’s a bit of a feeling things out process to find someone you really connect with and can do some good work with).

Ever heard of chocolate covered espresso beans? Most better candy shops have them, as well as some coffee shops. Think peanut M&Ms except with espresso beans instead of peanuts.

Make something nice for dinner, open a nice bottle of wine, leave the dishes until the morning, have a wank, and watch a favourite film on TV.

Therapy can help. I also had suicidal thought and after a year and change of weekly sessions life is a lot more enjoyable. Won’t pretend to know the mental health system in your area, but it’s something worth pursing. You deserve happiness just as much as anyone else.

You literally do. A relationship something from 3 decades ago is not a life sentance to pain. Flogging yourself about whatever happened helps no one, especially not her.

I care for you. I know how hard it is to get started. But I feel you wouldn’t have left a comment like that unless you needed someone to tell you it’s okay to be better. It’s okay to work on it. You deserve better then to lock yourself in a prison of misery.

I’d agree but it was my fault. I broke up with her in an impulsive ADHD spaz. And then I didn’t try hard enough to get her back. I felt maybe if I respected her boundaries she’d allow me back in her life but it never happened. I should’ve tried harder to communicate.

So nope! It’s all self-hatred from here on down. Plus the turtles.

Oh sweetie, we all do silly things in our youth we regret. Thats part of life and growing older. This is absoutly nothing to ruminate over. I really think you can improve your day to day by working on your mental health. Self-hatred is easy, but its miserable and serves no one.

You and your turtles deserve better!

Very kind of you but the fact remains for me that the shadow of this relationship follows me everywhere and I can’t let it go or forgive myself for destroying it. No counselling will help. It is what it is.

I understand that our lives are brief and pointless. The only magic is what we create in our own heads, sometimes dangerously. I don’t claim to be special or demand the universe unwind back 30 years to fix it. She’s moved on. I haven’t. It’s pathetic on my part, but there it is. TBH I’d rather we had kept going and destroyed each other, or she cheated on me or pretty much anything else except what actually happened.

                Bah.

      As a mod, I must say… bro nooooooo :(

I feel defeated when good people here say they feel like this. There’s so much I’d offer to fix this feeling people have. I really wish you the best if not actively able to help in some way.
