1·2 months agoShe was a bad candidate, basically a bad clone of Biden and we can see who won and who didn’t. Americans are not that smart and they only care about the president. Everyone else they vote purely on blue or red lines regardless.

9·2 months agoLet’s be honest. It wasn’t because of any leftist that she lost. It’s because she is a woman of color. Racism and misogyny is very well alive and has power in the USA. If they put another white man with the exact some politics then trump would have lost. Everyone wants to argue over silly points missing the clear truth of how backwards and messed up the USA still is.

Technology@lemmy.world•Fluxer is another open-source Discord alternativeEnglish
11·2 months agoEhh I have the most faith in matrix but it definitely isn’t perfect and barely a discord replacement .
I think that is one of the problems. People want an exact copy of discord but don’t ask if discord even has the perfect layout and if it should be copied directly. Anyway there are clients like cinny which look similar and other chat platforms like stroat(previously revolt) and spacebar which look exactly like discord and they are not doing massively well either so shrugs.
lol damn it does. I quickly skimmed it but my brain skipped that part.
The same with millennials adding lol to the end of every sentence. Which is me I do that lol.
Matrix is probably the most well funded and supported open source platform that might be able to compete with Discord but even then it’s not a fair fight.
Sadly most people won’t leave discord. People will forget about this next week.
It’s wild for me as a trans woman because I rarely had this issue before I transitioned and start to “pass”. It’s insane to experience both sides.
I’m guessing the shell is made from gelatin or something? Which is made from animal bones. I can’t think of what else would be made from animal.

10·2 months agoI think it has the longest life before going bad and it was a popular choice for low income families who wanted to stock up on stuff. I think it also became popular for food banks to hand out as well. Though we’ve moved away from that mostly. I rarely see people buy them anymore and if they do they likely do it by habit because they grew up in a family that used it.
I assume store brands and other brands will still keep making that stuff.
Well the anti-communist ones at least. I see it as a symbol of anarchist leftism. I guess it varies by person and how they wear it.

1·2 months agoI mean they all do. Big corporations are not our friend. Some are good at making us feel like friends but truly at the end of the profit matters.

26·2 months agoI am pretty sure they only do in attempt to attract devs. Once Epic were to get a majority position in the market they would quickly raise it to 30% too. None of these companies are “good guys” or actually care about the end consumer.
Technically we probably would have lower crime if we only let vetted people in who have gone through an immigration process be within the USA and like got rid of bad people who happened to be born here but that’s obviously not how things work or would work in a magical world.

10·2 months agoThe ecosystem is really seamless, especially with a MacBook and Apple watch in the mix.
Though I don’t think there is any winning in the smartphone space. There is a duopoly and even if you personally use graphineOS you still are benefitting and helping the Google ecosystem by using Android apps.
Sadly I don’t think we can “vote with our wallets” on smartphones. We need legal legislation that forces both Apple and Google to be consumer friendly.

4·2 months agoYa a few apps already do this. YouTube premium does for sure and I have heard a few others doing so.

Honestly idk why people are so mad at the wrong people. They are doing this for concern of following the laws that are being passed in many jurisdictions. Some of which required “operating systems” to store date of birth that apps can access. What that means and what even is an OS is heavily up to debate.
Either way people need to call their lawmakers and be mad at those passing these laws.
