For real. What a beautifully depressing work of art.
Haha awesome! The world needs more metal injected into it, I feel! >:D Like a shot in the arm, or a spin in the circle-pit lol. But yes as you describe - I am exactly just giving a sample, a taste, a whiff, a morsel. Tantalizing and drawing in. At least if the artwork don’t grab you, maybe the music will! (“you” in general lol).
Yea I wanted to mention the artist’s name but felt it needed to be an even shorter description, so I left it out. Nice to know he released other stuff under his own initials!
Typically, for my own uploads, I only stick to one track (usually a favorite or a showcase item) as I feel most people just drop a link to an album and don’t say anything. I try to describe it and why I love it and generally I try to respect people’s time. There are times where a release is high quality thoughout or short enough to warrant a recommendation for the whole thing, but those are rare times as I, myself, am quite picky, and have weird taste (at least I feel lol.)
I also look forward to what others have to say about the track/album/artist and love engaging from there! So thank you for the recommendations for the other tracks, despite me picking the one! :D
Nice find! And I’d have to agree on all points lol. I find myself gravitating more towards crust punk after discovering so much more hardcore punk stuff, even genuinely love neo-crust. But that’s like within a few weeks/months ago; had I heard about this band sooner I would have been singing its praises to anyone with any love for punk or extreme metal!
I’m honestly really surprised more don’t talk of this particular group/album, but yea it really is something special.
Ha yea. I remember a friend I had growing up got tired of all the little nuances and subgenre lines and shit and was like “Isn’t this all just metal??” Which I get but at the same time, I more vehemently disagree with the older I get.
Ah the infamous Been Caught Buttering… lol, classic.
Oh I actually like this one quite a bit. But it seems to be more simply crossover thrash/groove metal?

Stenchcore is like gritty production proto-death with lots of hardcore punk, I think?? I mostly listed it cuz RYM had it under the genres, and it’s similar to other stuff under than genre descriptor, like Sacrilege, or Napalm Death’s first output(s)
Oh hell yea, love that community!
It was a tough choice picking one track to link, and I wanted to avoid just picking the opener as I feel 80% of the picks I do are openers xD.
I was literally gonna post something from Mayhemic’s 2019 EP when I got the itch to go back to Kreator for today’s upload lmao.

3·11 days agoI’m glad it scratches somebody’s itch - to me it kinda makes me a bit more itchy. To be clear, I am definitely NOT a fan of this. Normally I add the stuff I post to my hugeass playlist, but I’m giving these dudes a miss lol.
I would probably draw the line similarly to how Anthrax is categorized. Essentially I’d call Lich King pure 2nd wave thrash metal, which happened to take a lot of inspiration from crossover and hardcore punk. They’re very similar to Municpal Waste, however, I’d call MW crossover thrash. So while Anthrax also took a lot of inspiration from the hardcore punk scene, especially the NYC scene, they still played pure thrash metal. Sorta similar situation to Power Trip too! Lol but they teeter just over the crossover line imo.
Tldr: in my opinion Lich King is pure thrash metal.
Imagine the “what-ifs” if Kreator continued down that road… Sadly we live in reality where money is a real thing. at least that’s my best guess as to why they kept changing up their sound, or even perhaps they felt they explored all of the… Extreme Agression (😉) out of it.
It’s really amazing how the fans of Pleasure to Kill in one country could spin off their own tangent and create so much new stuff that’s nearly as great lol.
Thanks man. Appreciate you and this community!
