I once got in trouble because the phishing test talked about a bonus and we had only just a month prior had our annual pay increase become an annual decrease against inflation. I emailed HR, basically calling it bullshit. They did not like that. I did not like them.

I didn’t get canned, despite a few more HR visits for each their own thing, but I don’t work there anymore. It really changed my perspective on what a good job is: as few people above you as possible and as unchanging as possible. Good jobs become bad jobs real quick.

I know almost 0 about Hytale. I played a lot of Minecraft but never interacted with their stuff. I also never got into minigames outside of the old school Mob Arena plugin.

All that said, this looks really cool to me. I’ve wanted to see something build upon the foundation of Minecraft. Now even more so with MS murdering developers left and right at the alter of AI. I have looked at Vintage Story a few times at length, but each time I walk away thinking it looks way too hardcore for me.

This checks out with what Russell Crowe was saying in the interview. He doesn’t name Scott, but he was saying there were forces pushing for inserting smexy time. He rightly had things to say about that, "So you’re saying at the same time he had this relationship with his wife, he was fucking this other girl? What are you talking about? It’s crazy.”

I used to use a username, for like 10+ years, but had a “personality” use the same name and become popular. That was before Twitch blew up, so I can’t imagine it is any less common now. I saw in the Hytale FAQ that they will claw back names that popular users use. I get it, but also it is strange. I guess that is the world today, everyone wants to be a brand.

It was super disappointing but not surprising. I’ve seen enough of Ridley Scott’s work to see that he is very uneven and unfortunately usually not because he is taking big artistic swings. He has made some of the greatest films and so the exact opposite just really stands out each time.

He was the doctor in Deadwood as well. I believe he was largely a likable person iirc in that. Oh and he being freaky over an alien in one of the lesser Alien flicks. His daughter also plays in the Chucky universe as well.

I had initially assumed it could be sold at a loss and then they would earn off of game sales. Then it was pointed out that people would buy it and put whatever they want on it for a cheaper PC. I know we aren’t going to change the trajectory of things, but maybe someone has an idea to share for fun?

I have not played the games, only having observed a little bit of play. I definitely don’t know the story.

I enjoyed the first movie. Some parts of it were really great and there are some slog moments that I will even skip past now. Overall though, the first is a guilty pleasure. I can’t recall a lot about the second movie except that I hated it. Kit Harrington was super hard to watch, some weirdness with CGI stuff in the end, and something about the big sword boi really upset me. I don’t think I ever watched the second flick again.

I want this new one to be either good for the fans or if it misses then at least fun like the first one was. I really do need to give the remake a try, but I am such a chicken for interactive horror.

I think you just noted why they compared them. Both were huge.

Looks fun. I was surprised seeing the realism graphics and then the guy chomp on someones armored neck though. I do like the slowing down of time while selecting things over stopping it as a general idea that I hope more games do.

I do love puppets. I have distinct memories of mad dash attempts to New Vegas right out of the gate.

I think this offer only works for Windows machines. I didn’t see a way to utilize it on Linux. Bummer. A couple of years ago when I switched to Linux I still had a few years of Game Pass left.

Did you enable all the DLC? Maybe you didn’t the first time. I made the mistake of playing it for the first time with everything, and some of the DLC gives you all your powers/etc right away I believe. It has been years but I remember this really bummed me out rather than unlocking things as I went.

I could be remembering wrong, but I think it just hands you a lot of unlockables almost right away. I recall feeling like it killed some of the excitement that would have been there.

Someone with more recent memory can help me out. I just remember being powerful super quick.

I did the same on my desktop. I haven’t bought a laptop in forever though and idk what to do about them all having an AI key now.

But he had just released the abomination that was Glass a few years prior. I think Knock at the Cabin was a better “return” if he could be said to have ever left. Following that back with Trap though felt like sliding backwards again which was a bummer as I really wanted to like that movie.

If Glass had not gone the way it did, it would have been a fantastic monument in his film history. Instead it is kind of like the Matrix, and the less part muddies some of the shine on the best parts of his career imo.

An interesting conversation to have with Shyamalan is about the business side of movies. He is very good at making sure the movies turn a profit and I would like to know more about that, it has been on my list of things to doomscroll one day.

Romulus was cool imo, but not mind blowing. To me it was good enough to warrant more. Was it as good as 1 or 2? No. Was it better than everything else? Yes, because unlike every Alien sequel, it is not a few good scenes in a bad movie. For better or worse, it is consistent.

I actually had my internet down for like 10 days and only had a handful of movies available to me and no books as I had just moved and was still awaiting their arrival. I ended up watching Romulus three times. to me it is the perfect example of “swimming in sevens.” I had only a month prior marathoned all other Alien movies though, so maybe my brain was affected.

I cannot speak to the most recent 2 predator movies, but I liked Prey enough to watch it twice in a year. I think the same person did the John Goodman bunker movie, and I just think they are a competent person running the show for Predator stuff now.

I’m imagining these are smaller efforts given the 500sh reviews on the first ones page. I’m wondering how hard it is to do it properly while keeping solvent. Like the Croc game looks good while the first Tomba looked mostly the same as I remembered it.
