That’s how I feel about most Microsoft products actually.

Exactly the same at my job. And it really shows in the code quality, or lack thereof. And then sometimes they wonder why it becomes more and more complicated to add new things. But most of the time they just think that it’s perfectly normal that way and are completely oblivious to all the ways it could be improved. I once talked to my boss about it and he basically replied with “Well you know, there just isn’t a code style that everybody likes, so there’s no reason to even try.”

Ah I see. Yeah I try to do the same as much as possible. But there still are those apps that just don’t offer such functionality, unfortunately.
Ah I see, thanks!
Sounds good, thank you!
Alright, thank you!
A question on the self hosted app backups: Do you mean using synchronization functionalities that the apps themselves have built-in? Like using a contacts app that syncs the contacts via CardDav? Or do you actually synchronize the apps themselves with their app-specific data (like settings etc.)? Because if that is possible, I would be very interested!
Yeah, your points really do make sense. Thank you for your insights!
Reminds me of when Beatrix von Storch, politician from the far-right German party AfD, once suggested suing the sun for damages done by climate change in an interview.

I could also imagine DRM, though not directly privacy related, being a thing. Like the issues of freedom and openness are probably also important to many people who value privacy and might therefore prefer GOG or something over Steam.
Edit: I see someone else mentioned this already: https://lemmy.world/comment/16903223
Oh tatsächlich? Das wusste ich nicht und überrascht mich jetzt ehrlich gesagt auch. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass die irgendetwas machen, das tatsächlich jemandem hilft.

Same with video games.
It’s from one of the shows listed under this paragraph: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Morgan#Philomena_Cunk
Morgan is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Philomena Cunk, an extremely dim-witted and ill-informed interviewer and commentator on history, culture and current affairs.

Really? That’s interesting, because I’ve never noticed burn-in on any of my OLED phones, even though I did use them for many years each. But then again, I’ve always wondered why seemingly nobody talks about burn-in on phones, while there is a lot of fuzz being made around it on computer monitors.
