  • Actaully super nice using it with KDE or a independant window manager- But then you just have all the desktop packages installed anyway so my resource useage is the exact same as my arch setup…

Alpine is amazingly small compared to other bare bones distros, but that saved 10mb of ram doesn’t mean much when your desktop and browser are using a gig

Real easy answer: keeping a fridge cool during a very hot summer outside requires a more powerful cooling system. Instead most people have a powerful AC since you want the house cool anyway, with a cheaper fridge cooling system

The reverse is also true. You wouldnt want your fridge to require a heater installed in it to keep your food from freezing in esspecially cold winters

  • This is what I fear though. Every relationship I’ve had I’ve been the “stepping stone”. I treated them nicley enough to where they wanted their first relationship, first time, etc. And then they realized they wanted something else after experimenting with me. I dont resent anyone for it, but now that im out of school and working full time all I wanted was someone to stay. If they want something else then I wish she would end things, but I dont want to end things if its something I just need to give time and effort

  • SystemD isnt exactly a program but more of a group of projects, the only “core” SystemD software on most distros is the init system… Which you can run completely without SystemD’s UserDB system (the part being talked about in the post).

Basically this means you as a user dont have to do anything but switch away from projects that depend on SystemD’s UserDB (like Gnome), not SystemD as a whole

However if you do want to move away from SystemD as a whole you can replace your init system with another one, gentoo’s wiki is a good starting point for learning a bit more: wiki. Personally I love using openrc but of you have no need to touch init files… Dont switch

At least in my experiance I’ve been dragged because “X told you their pronouns, using they means your trying to invalidate them” I’ve talked to X like 3 times and do not plan on being more then acquaintances/coworkers. Somedays I just want to say, “I wont remeber your pronouns because I don’t care about you, not because I’m transphobic” but that would just create a lot of drama I would care even less about

This has also been a really controversial take of mine. But I have an even more controversial opinion that if I’m not well aquanted or friends with you, using they/them to refer to you is not offensive. I can barely remember peoples names much less your specific pronouns

Fun fact this is actually a well known proven thing! Hide the pain harold.jxl

Study apon study has found that by reducing work, giving people their basic needs, and letting us follow our passions makes us exponentially more productive and happier. But that would only benifit the commoners since the rich/powerful already have all that, and why would the people at the top help when they get off on the feeling of power

  • For me I can largely minimize this by working full time and having a time consuming hobby. Recently I’ve opened up to my roomate and we’ve gotten really close, but when I feel like I’m becoming obsessive I try to sidetrack myself on working on 3d print models or coding or some long story based game. It’s not a perfect solution (definitely hard to peel myself off of them sometimes if I’m already around them) but I’ve at least gotten to “not annoying enough to cut off” levels lol

  • This is also my goal! …since 2020.

I love vim/nvim but I’ve gotten used to using VIM more as a text editor then an IDE. Writing a script? Taking notes? Maybe even a small program? VIM all the way. Working on a big project that needs an LSP? Either spend the next 20 hours fucking with your VIM config and 20 plugins to get basic functionality… Or just open VSCode and install one plugin

Heres to hoping since NVIM 0.11 with their LSP overhaul I can finnally make the full switch

  • As much as I glaze RISC-V, its an embedded architecture firstmost. RISC-V gets a more powerful SOC released now and then but theres not massive adoption for general computing like there is for ARM, leading back into the problem of “Why go with RISC-V when ARM is far more mature?”. And almost no company is building new assembly lines when 99% of their customers dont give a shit about computing freedom
