you might enjoy Hazbin Hotel. Adam (in Heaven) is a narcissistic misogynistic bro abusing his power, while Lucifer (in Hell) is a goofball who collects rubber duckies and is a loving (if slacker) dad to his daughter (the protagonist.)

to me that means “download” rather than “save.” if I’m using an online editor, “save” might not download anything.
icons are basically ideograms. floppy disks might be the etymology of the save icon, but kids will learn it means “save” the same way Chinese kids learn that 人 means “person” (a simplified rendering of the original Bone Oracle glyph, which depicted a person from the side)
as another example, you used the word “inundated” which comes from the Latin unda meaning “wave,” as in waves overcoming a building. but you learned to use that word without needing the history lesson behind it.
the status quo didn’t exactly work out for millenials either.
RFC 98 was co-created and championed mostly by a person who has a history of within-organization agitation, first within Google, and now within Nix. They have a history of social activism and labor organization, and as far as I can tell, they are employed or contracted in various capacities that allow them to pursue these goals. By any reading, they are extremely polite and accommodating in the absolutely mind-endingly long RFC 98 doom-shedding.
I’m very confused about where those is going. the way it was prefaced made it seem like they were about to blame said co-creator from a right-wing perspective, but then the end of the paragraph affirmed their cordial collaboration and politeness.
as far as I was aware, the drama was largely Determinate Systems making a lot of QoL improvements gated behind their products + flakes eternally in beta and then the contract with Anduril
tell me it still ships with

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do trans people like to be noticed?
45·16 days agocis women compliment (and get complimented on) their appearance all the time. trans women like that too. so yeah, without reference to them being trans, 100%.
but getting clocked sucks, so even if you’re supportive and an ally it’s not good to make a reference to them being trans unless they’ve told you. (though definitely don’t lie, even for flattery, since we’re insecure about false compliments in general.)
but if they tell you they’re trans, or if you find out through some way not connected to their appearance (e.g. they show an old ID)… then, and only then, compliments on their physical appearance are absolute catnip. I remember once checking into a motel and showing my old ID, and the person at the front desk said “sorry, he has to be here in person for me to accept his ID” - he thought I was my own sister lol. that was one of the greatest moments of euphoria in my entire life! he was worried he’d offended me once I explained I’d transitioned but I was like “nah bro, you can’t imagine how good that made me feel.”

she had a reputation for racial stereotyping even before she went mask-off as a terf, decades back. like naming the one Asian character Cho Chang (sounds like ching chang chong; both names are from different Asian countries), naming the one Black character Kingsley Shacklebolt (King from MLK, shackle from slavery), naming the Jewish character Anthony Goldstein, naming an Irish character Seamus Finnegan…
…it’s not that she was necessarily super racist, she just used very stereotypical/over the top names for her characters. so I don’t hate her for being racist, I hate her for being transphobic.
