Fediverse@lemmy.world•What do you like about the fediverse and why?Français
8·15 days agoPeace of mind
I don’t have to go through artificial slowness, walls of ads, cookie/“please sign-in” gateways. My data remains mine. The thing does what it does, it just works. Using commercial stuff is actively aggressive towards me and requires my constant vigilance to get through; the fediverse just works for me

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Shareable markdown directoriesFrançais
1·16 days agoThe hosting part is, indeed, a technical part but a tool like copyparty can help here:
https://github.com/9001/copyparty/blob/hovudstraum/README.md#markdown-viewer
It runs everywhere, is just a single file you double-click to open and browse from your browser. Makdown files are automatically rendered. You can upload a bunch of files directly, or just send them by mail and put them in a directory served by copyparty

3·16 days agoThat’s basically what gopher is: a capsule of hierarchically ordered documents, easily browsable thanks to a normalized interface
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gopher_(protocol)
The web is one of its spiritual successor and is plenty usable to share text files. Most if not all software can generate indexes of content in a directory.
wgetand friends can be used to retrieve the whole archive. If you generate html files you can then style them independently of the content.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What would you like to see on the Fediverse?Français
2·18 days agoMost of the usage of platform is individual-based and it’s a problem. Collective-based interaction, like in the threadiverse, leads to a better sense of community, better organizing, better software that really helps us, etc…
I would like to see more wiki-like usage, where we congregate around topics/subjects/interests and collectively build something with rules we decide ourselves

In a roundabout way the author says that the structure of the platform informs the structure of the discourse, the opinions, the information that is surfaced and the one that is invizibilized. It’s important to remember that a decentralized network doesn’t mean neutrality, there will be something put in front. It’s not the same as what a capitalist wants, and that’s good

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[META] Should AI disclosure tags [AI], [NOT AI] be mandated when sharing projects?Français
10·24 days agoI would love to see an [AI] tag, so I can easily hide it. Coupled with temporary bans in case of missing disclosure it would really sanitize the community

2·24 days agoThen failure to disclose can be condemned, for instance by temporary bans

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Any self-hosted option for real time location sharing?Français
4·1 month agoIf not hosting anything is ok for you, deltachat allows you to share locations to people in a chat. It’s fully e2ee. You can use it with existing relays, but if you want you can host one that will be useful to everyone: https://chatmail.at/

Fediverse@lemmy.world•In peertube how can I choose an instance and how can I have cross platform interactions??Français
3·1 month agoI think there are 2 levels here: basic federation, where you can follow a channel on another instance and comment there, is opt-out like the rest of the fediverse. In fact you can even comment from Mastodon. The platform-level following is another thing, that enables other uses.
The issue of search is unrelated to that, it’s the same as with other fediverse platforms: search only searches on the current platform. But peertube also allows you to search on global indexes:
https://docs.joinpeertube.org/use/search#global-search
And, of course, you can use Sepia Search, a curated index of instances by the people behind peertube:

Pas besoin de sotir le méga datacenter. Parce qu’entre les hébergeurs commerciaux tu auras toujours un statut de client, tu participeras toujours à un truc méga-polluant et basé sur le profit.

I’m talking specifically about calling the network, ie the interconnection of independent softwares, as “mastodon”. It’s not about explaining how mastodon works, it’s implying everything works this way. This very platform we are using is definitely not mastodon, but is definitely part of the fediverse

This is really nice, but I don’t understand what the willow part really brings, unfortunately
