Banning ideas and opinions is not banning fascism. But let’s start over. First, they banned me. All I did was say that banning people for having the opinion “Israel should exist as an entity” is authoritarian. I wasn’t even defending Israel, which, like I said, people should be allowed to do as part of normal freedom of speech.

Second, I didn’t even say anything extreme, like “you should be hanged for treason!” or some such nonsense. I said “you have the right to ban people for whatever you want since it’s your instance, but I think that’s fascist if you do so.” And they banned me. Do you think that’s even remotely normal behavior?

Banning people for their behavior and conduct is perfectly reasonable. Also, if some Israel defender comes in and says “I don’t care how many children need to be killed, it’s worth it,” then I think you have every right to ban them. Advocating murder is crazy shit. But simply saying “Israel has a right to exist” or something similar as being ban worthy? That’s absolute ghoulish authoritarianism. There’s no such thing as “banning fascism” because this is just a discussion forum.

They submitted a proposal to ban all “Zionists or Zionist apologists” and I objected on the grounds that it is, objectively, the very fascism they were denouncing. They banned me simply for suggesting this. That’s what I’m talking about.

Since you do not understand even the smallest aspect of what I said, you are not in a position to make such a judgment.

“Strong left bias” is not bias, it is just a reflection of normal human decency. If you mean that fake leftists like the dbzero fascists are around a lot, I would agree and it’s a problem.

I genuinely do not understand what the complaint is. If people are interested in non US things, please, by all means go discuss those things, but please don’t act like it’s weird how it is now.

Let’s talk about this. First of all, they banned me for simply disagreeing with the idea of the policy. That’s egregious and quite fascistic itself; I never even said how I felt about Zionism, but that’s kind of my original point.

Ok so taking each in turn. This is an online mini forum, not a physical bar. There is no threat of a fake anarchist space turning into a pro genocide mini forum because they already have the power to completely regulate everyone’s speech and behavior. But the main point is that this is just a bad analogy. There is no similarity between the online forum and dealing with physically violent and threatening people. It’s a ridiculous comparison.

Turning to the paradox of tolerance, that’s not a real thing. It’s not paradoxical to refuse to tolerate intolerance. This has nothing to do with the deep hatred of freedom that is banning “zionists and Zionist apologists”. You’re already moderating people’s behavior. If someone is spamming garbage or being a nuisance, that’s different than someone saying “I think Israel has a right to exist” or something similar.

Banning people who simply advocate for the existence of the Israeli state is authoritarian lunacy. It’s the right of the fascists who run this instance, no question, but it is objectively fascist right wing behavior. No decent person would even consider it.

Sort of. I am highly skeptical of anyone who jumps to use that term when people are complaining about particularly egregious corporations/practices, but at the same time, if you denounce people for buying Harry Potter shit then I think you’re nuts.
