Police launched a manhunt after a vehicle struck several people near Berlin’s Tiergarten on Saturday night during Pride celebrations, known locally as Christopher Street Day (CSD).

While I somewhat get the decision from a security standpoint, doesn’t cancelling the pride event give these lowlifes exactly what they want?

What are the odds that a second attack like this happens on the same event?

Pride is a protest as much as it is a celebration.
Attacks like this ruin the celebration, but in my view they also increase the need to protest.

I want to say so many things about this … it makes me sad that the right wing radicalization machine and stochastic terrorism actually works on people.

It makes me sad that people were hurt, and we lost someone.

I makes me mad, like I want to set something on fire. Like the driver.

Nazis on reddit are claiming that it was an Islamist, so there will probably be anti-immigrant pogroms regardless of whether that’s true.

News articles are saying there are Islamist connections too. That wouldn’t surprise me given how absolutely batshit religious people can be.

The police confirm it. In Germany, it’s unlikely that there will be progroms for the moment, particularly not because of an attack on queer people. The far-right hates us too after all.

Apparently one person died. This had been the best CSD in a few years… Shit that I had to end like this.

This was back-to-back in my feed with another instance of car-based terrorism.

Funny how these coward losers are too afraid to get out of their cars. Wonder how they’d cope if their car was undriveable, such as on fire?

I read it as well in early reports, dunno if they decided not to include that or if they later decided the injuries weren’t stab wounds (the article I read said ‘apparent stab wounds’).
