We’re invisible for being transgender men, not for just being men. But because we don’t fit a specific viewpoint and cannot be used advantageously by transphobes unless it is about us “mutilating” our bodies, and thus we are highly invisible in trans and queer spaces alike. That’s what that meme meant. We also don’t get a ton of representation in media or even in studies.

It is an awful transphobic term, made to prioritize one’s AGAB over their gender identity. It’s transmedicalist too in the perspective that it affirms that there are “other” less valid trans people.

Also, you’re not the only one targeted by the term. Binary trans men (like me) have had it used against me to say my experiences weren’t valid since there is a vapid dichotomy between the experiences of trans AFAB vs trans AMAB people.

I realized how much I genuinely wanted to be the positive change in my world, and I began participating in soup kitchens and being involved in my community pretty frequently and I got tired of seeing all the injustice… So I began to read a lot of theory at 15 and now here I am!

I know that my case is different because I started testosterone and that is technically a performance enhancing drug, but there was also the initial disconnect that you mentioned as well that was present for me (both mentally and physically); I was getting very used to my new body and it was incredibly frustrating but also humbling at the same time as it taught me things about my limits that I hadn’t even known were there prior to HRT. Being trans is an awkward experience, especially when we collectively try to get back into things we enjoyed when we were cis… But that’s what makes being trans amazing! We’re so resilient and strong in so many different ways. Best of luck to you Ada!
