Capitalist culture creates any consumption a form of status. The more you consume, the higher your status. We see this in people buying status through Rolexes, Lamborghinis, and travelling.
There is some inherent value in traveling. It expands your horizons. It gives you new perspectives.
So it works for both capitalist and less capitalist culture.
I’ve read that Japanese culture doesn’t see stuff as worthless, but that it should be available to everyone. They just want future generations to be able to play old games more easily.

It’s so refreshing surfing the Internet and to not be completely inundated with ads and rage bait.
The workers do bear risk. Things don’t go right, you’ll fire them. In another company, you might even get a bonus if you fire a bunch of them.
But in reality that antagonism is only for show. They’re actually trying to pass the same policies but talk differently about it.

I know, I really like that about Kindles, but I recently decided I need less screen time and a Kindle is technically a screen. ( I am aware of the irony of posting this comment on the Internet)
I used to read books on a Kindle but I am trying to spend less times looking at screens, so I started buying physical books again.
They intentionally addict adults idk why children would be immune to that.
