A private equity business owner just became willingly elected as prime minister of Canada. Mussolini and Hitler have been resurrected.

26·2 months agoYeah Canadians are so serious about boycotting the US, except everyone still uses Mastercard, Visa, Android, Google, AWS, Microsoft, Linkedin, Indeed, FB, IG, etc. etc. They can’t even press the free delete account button, what a great boycott! Finally after almost a year only the EU is just beginning to discuss digital sovereignty.

19·4 months agoThis company already has another scandal brewing, since 2005 they have been installing plastic engine parts, particularily the intake manifolds have been designed as a single use item to be replaced roughly every 3 years. Custom aluminum will run you $1000 for the part itself if you don’t want to keep swapping plastic, not to mention the ridiculous labour costs as well. Avoid!

Order of the Star Dissolution Speech: we have been lead down a path where truth no longer exists, progress cannot be achieved until we acknowledge our errors and learn from our mistakes.
Reminding that “…there are currently no major left-wing political parties in the country.” you Americans have far right or right wing parties, haha losers

Can we just shut the fuck up about this fantasy “centre-left” already? There has not been a centre in a very long time, let alone a left. Regardless far-left or far-right, only options are authoritarian and not libertarian. Go compare Switzerland to enlighten yourself.

2·8 months agoOh I’m well aware that it was “adapted” from a novel which was quite terribly written, they essentially tried to take from the novel which bastardized history while staying true to the real story which obviously makes no sense. Shogun is an awful fantasization of the story of Tokugawa Ieyasu, James Clavell is an idiot whose books should have stayed dead. It was a great opportunity to right wrongs and portray history correctly, yikes. Rome is another terrible TV example of fictionalizing history when there is plenty of real content to take from.

6·8 months agoI am sick of “history” shows and movies that are completely inaccurate. There are so many unbelievable stories that fiction always takes a backseat for me if I were to choose between a history or sci-fi book for example. Shogun is extremely guilty of this, it had great production but the details were sickeningly incorrect, in Japan people were pissed because it’s an opportunity to teach about culture and every Japanese knows the real story and details of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Americans have already been propagandizing and manipulating history in many ways since decades past, there is much change to be done.

7·8 months agoFrom the wiki: “By the 1930s, muckraking journalists, consumer protection organizations, and federal regulators began mounting a campaign for stronger regulatory authority by publicizing a list of injurious products which had been ruled permissible under the 1906 law, including radioactive beverages, the mascara Lash lure, which caused blindness, and worthless “cures” for diabetes and tuberculosis. The resulting proposed law was unable to get through Congress for five years, but was rapidly enacted into law following the public outcry over the 1937 Elixir Sulfanilamide tragedy, in which over 100 people died after using a drug formulated with a toxic, untested solvent.”
I believe I’ve heard that the FDA was actually beneficial for capitalism as consumers would entirely avoid certain products out of fear, making it difficult to sell even legitimate goods.

You can be a crybaby and downvote, or you Canadians could also actually begin your boycott instead of this virtue signalling and false platitudes.
