Why is the Democratic California governor accusing right-wing activists of being on the gay hookup app?

Because a stupid portion of libs and centrists are perfectly fine with calling conservatives f*gs in slightly more polite language. There is literally no reason to accept the conservative premise that being gay is shameful, any more than there is to accept the conservative premise that Black people are less intelligent. By calling them f*gs (and don’t kid yourself, that is what [general] you’re doing if you insinuate they’re gay) you have aligned yourself with roughly 50 years of conservative homophobia.

TL;DR: Newsom is a fucking queerphobe and I hope he shits his pants on camera.

This is absolutely what they are doing. Anyone who thinks Newsom has principled stances, is in for a surprise. He reads the room, and then adjusts his positions accordingly. He is the DNC incarnate. The corporations that he is beholden to dictate what his policies are. If it becomes politically convenient to support and defend trans people again, he’ll be leading the march with a disingenuous “I’ve been out here for years!” sound bite.
