While the broader impacts of AI are still unknown, OpenAI claims the technology will cause major social and economic upheaval driven by significant displacement of workers as AI capabilities become more sophisticated and applicable to nearly all forms of work.

    Citation needed.

Also, OpenAI didn’t invent the transformer.

“Displacement of workers” not because AI is doing those workers’ jobs now, but because companies wanted to free up money to invest in AI.

AI is everywhere and not only are the peasants angry, the rich are too. Where I work (health insurance), we have started putting in more AI to better simulate the experience of Dave-doesn’t-believe-in-Ritalin-anymore.

Some providers now have a policy of its-a-lie-until-human-says-it. And they will argue with the AI until they get a recording of a human saying “it’s not a legally debatable hallucination, we will pay you if you provide X service to Y person.”

So now the AI companies are training their models to argue. If you ask “are you a human” they cannot legally say they are (in this context anyway. AI techbros bit off more than they could chew here) but they can give themselves aliases and job titles. And nobody buys it.

Humans are such a premium feature, people are willing to pay extra to avoid the AI the companies are throwing the extra money into.

See, the problem is that you’re not supposed to have solo cocktails. That’s kinda weird. You need to have a cocktail AT MINIMUM with at least someone else, but it’s better to have cocktails with a group of people. It was a Friday… perfect day for cocktails.
