I just used this code yesterday in Ori and the Blind Forest to get the rainbow trail for the dash!

And in celebration of the cheat code’s 40th anniversary, Konami has opened a commemorative webpage on the official site for its Project Zircon. The largely user-built world of this Web3 game platform is still under development, but is expected to include the Konami Code somehow as it grows.

Blockchain, NFT, “play to earn”… nope.

Konami’s only redeeming factor today is that they occasionally find people who give some fuck about their IPs and let them handle those.

Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells, and if it’s anything like it, the new actual Castlevania game that is coming soon from the same developers. And it’s a new Castlevania game that is not a freaking pachinko machine. It’s been more than ten years since the last one… And that last one was also developed externally, by Mercury Steam.

Konami signed on a lot of crossovers lately (there’s some random Contra ones too). Probably the only things of value bearing their name since forever.

They also made a deal with Vampire Survivors of all things. And of course poncle went all in on it. That DLC is bigger than the base game and it’s such a love letter to the series that I’m not ashamed to say I shed a tear at the ending credits.

Are these web3 things still alive? Unlike Instagram or other things I didn’t catch up to, it seemed like it has no real traction at all.

It’s not part of the actual code, technically. Select just switches to 2 player mode on the contra title screen, and start starts the game. If you played single player, ypu wouldn’t press select at all.

And in gradius i think you enter it on the pause screen iirc, so start would resume the game there.

          Those are some good memories.

We were always fighting over whether him dying meant we had to start over 😂

Sometimes he’d just want to see me beat it

*Edit: Oh yeah, he could steal lives! Sometimes we’d agree on how many he should leave me and very often he’d steal more anyway 🤣

Same, but we could get away with more at Grandmother’s house.

There was still a limit, but it was more forgiving, and we were always looking for it

Played through the NES Contra unaware of any cheat codes. Felt like got cheated behind my back, after I learned about the code. :D

I remember knowing about this Konami code and always wanted try it out in random games. The first time I tried it in Parodius (SNES) was hilarious.

Also still mad the code didn’t make it into Metal Gear Solid.
