House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.

“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.

The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

Stop supporting and enabling genocidal cunts, then. Otherwise leftists such as myself will continue to endlessly effort post and create a scene.

You need to accept that the shitlib/radical centrist coalition is insufficient to get Democrats to win elections, as clearly demonstrated by Biden/Harris completely failing. You need to push the Democrats to the left. You need to have a candidate actually worth voting for, someone who actually excites the electorate to go out and vote to improve their lives, not just the “technically better than Trump” candidate. That doesn’t win elections, no matter how much you rant and rave and shame people.

Deal with this reality, or accept endless Republican victories.

The Democrats empowered MAGA and Trump by running a completely non-viable candidate. Stop blaming voters for the failure of the Democratic party. This is all on them, 100%.

People didn’t vote because they felt like Harris was not worth voting for. She lost because she didn’t actually offer anyone what they wanted, she was just a harm reduction candidate at best. That isn’t sufficiently motivating to get people out to vote, no matter how much we rant and yell and shame people.

Please, I am begging you, accept this reality. I want Trump and the Republicans gone probably even more than you do. I am trying to help you understand that we lost for a very good reason and we need to learn from it.

What you think, and whether she would have done a good job, is completely irrelevant. Do you not understand my point? You win elections by having a candidate that people want to vote for, usually by advancing policies which are popular.

The genocide in Gaza is now like a 90/10 issue. It is known that it was a factor in why Kamala lost the election. If she had opposed the genocide, it is very possible that she would have won.

I am not shitting on Democrats just for fun. I am trying to explain that Trump won because the Democrats advanced a shit, genocidal candidate.

If you let them do the same thing again in 2028, we very well may see a Republican President even worse than Trump.

Please, demand more than the bare minimum.

People not voting are possibly more stupid than MAGA. At least MAGA morons have SOME sort of care, even if its motivated entirely by hate.

I’ve voted in every election I was ever eligible to vote in. I am simply explaining why the Democrats lost. You can hate the people who didn’t vote if you want, I understand that frustration, but there is a very good reason they didn’t vote - because they didn’t perceive the Democratic candidate to be someone worth voting for.

Advance a candidate with popular policies who isn’t a genocidal piece of shit and watch in amazement as political engagement ramps up.

Funny how not setting your hand on a burning stove won’t result in third degree burns isn’t a good enough reason to not set your hand on a burning stove. You ever heard the phrase “don’t let better be the enemy of perfect”?

No shit Harris sucked, but she sucked a whole lot less than Trump and moving incrementally left from Harris would have been a HELL OF A LOT easier than moving left from Trump. I do absolutely blame the idiots who sat around and said “well, Harris doesn’t inspire me, so I’ll sit here and let the fascist collapse happen. That’ll show everyone how morally superior I am!”

The people who didn’t vote, I think, are worse than Trumo supporters because at least Trump supporters made moves to do what they thought was best while you sat around and twiddled your thumbs and let the world burn around you instead of doing the bare fucking minimum available to you to stop it, or at least slow it down to make it easier to change it in the near future

Yeah, being mad at trump supporters voting for trump is like being mad at your dog for eating its own shit. It’s a dumb animal that eats shit and garbage, what were you expecting? I’m more mad that they have, not just equal, but over representation in this political system. We need a system where ideally, the stupid dogs have no representation, or at a minimum, equal representation to actual thinking human beings.

No excuses for the 3rd party/non-voters in 2024. Life is full of shitty compromises made worse by inaction. I’m amazed they’ve made it this far in life without noticing that, but it’s time to adult the fuck up.

Primaries for Congress are going on right now, and each one of those whiny lazy chucklefucks that got us into the mess ought to be out there stumping for their ideal candidate every waking hour of every day until November.

Liberals have a real problem reckoning with the fact that Kamala Harris lost because she was an unelectable piece of genocidal trash who deserves to be put on trial for crimes against humanity alongside Biden for their unlimited support to the genocidal regime of Israel, who advanced precisely zero popular policies, and ran entirely on a platform of “We’re like the Republican Party, but slightly less worse”.

Liberals feel like their candidate was good, but only lost because voters are lazy, apathetic, stupid, etc. If the candidate was good, voters would overcome these obstacles and vote. I’m just explaining fundamental reality to people who do not want to come to terms with the fact that their political project, neoliberalism, is dead and gone.

I regularly encourage people to get engaged in the democratic process, especially primaries, as well as participating in workplace organizing and activist efforts. Please enjoy one of my many homemade copypastas:

Organize, protest and elect. Emphasis on organize and protest.

                  1. Get as involved as you can with activist efforts locally.
                  2. Organize, network, focus on building solidarity. Join or form a union. Join the IWW.
                  3. Vote at primaries and elections for the best candidate, even if you doubt they can win.
                  4. Don’t punch down.
                  5. Don’t punch left.
                  6. Educate yourself, politically.
                  7. Push for voting reform and for anything that breaks the two-party system.

I’m like, genuinely glad that shitlibs can’t help themselves and are willing to just live with their whole ass hanging out. Just, honestly, thank you. Thank you for always saying the quiet parts out loud. You make it so much easier to identify and understand why and how liberalism ends up at fascism.

And what you are doing is important, even if its naively so. We need this kind of thinking documented, if only to study in an effort to make sure no one ever repeats it.

What do you think I’m doing now, literally YEARS out from the election? I am trying to help people understand WHY the Democrats lost, so that we can avoid a candidate who will lose in the same way.

So you’re saying as a voter I’m supposed to just sit around and wait for a candidate/party to run a perfect campaign while I let my brain rot instead of rubbing some of my brain cells together to acknowledge that one option is better than the other, even if they messed up on the campaign trail?

That sounds pretty stupid and lazy.

Like, do you think election campaigns are the only way to judge a party or candidate? Like there isn’t an entire detailed history I can check out to determine what the facts are about that party/candidate?

Yeah, campaigns matter, but voters also have a responsibility and you’re trying to absolve them of that responsibility.

Oh my god, I am extremely over explaining this again and again.

No, I’m telling you that it doesn’t matter how much you scream, cry, shame, judge, rant and rave, it literally doesn’t matter one single iota if you’re right and those people are lazy and shit.

THEY WILL CONTINUE TO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO VOTE FOR.

If I can’t tell the difference

Buddy, if you can’t tell the difference between the Republican and Democrat parties you need to get yourself a new pair of eyes and ears and then enroll yourself in some classes to get a better education.

EDIT: Oof. Some low IQ downvotes from hamster brains that don’t seem to remember our situation being way less intense before January 2025 and who apparently haven’t done their homework to determine the differences between the parties. Keep being ignorant. That’s how we got Trump and fascism.

Not that any centrist has read this far, but I voted for her. I fully expect abuse from people who made the assumption that I didn’t as soon as I said she chose a losing policy.

There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging a candidate chose a losing strategy but still voting for them because you also acknowledge the opposition is worse. I did the same thing.

Unfortunately, a lot of stupid people were convinced to not vote or vote for a 3rd party with no possibility of winning.

If you think electing a genocidal democrat is progress, as far as I’m concerned, you are as much an enemy of mine as a MAGA supporter is.

I am not asking for perfection. The bar is literally underground. We are talking about fucking genocide, here, not microaggressions.

This shit is literally how Trump got into power. You need to blame the Democrats for this. It was an entirely unforced defeat, all because Biden/Harris needed to dickride Israel directly into hell.

The thing is, in their hearts, they know what the problem is. They need to give ground to the left. They’re just throwing a tantrum and refusing to accept it because in the past they’ve been able to win with a coalition of centrists, moderates and liberals. Those days are now gone, and this coalition, which has been looking down and sneering at the left for decades, really doesn’t want to have to capitulate to our demands. But if they don’t, they’ll just cause republican fascists to come to power. For many right wing democrats, fascism is preferable to socialism.

There is a very good reason the DNC hasn’t released the election post-mortem report, because it probably confirms something close to what I just described - though, probably watered down slightly. The leaks we do have confirm that the Democrats lost votes because of their pro-Genocidal stance.

And they won’t ever put their hands up and admit their approach is what caused defeat because they would require some self awareness, self analysis and then admitting that the ‘left’ not holding their noses and voting for their piss soaked candidate wasn’t the cause of the defeat.

I’m not in the US but only recently learnt that since ww2, no democrat has been elected with a majority of white voters. Carter came closest with 48%. Running a candidate who supported cop cities with her entire chest isn’t going to endear your core voter base.

Whooo boy I kicked the fucking tankie hornet’s nest.

This post is attempting to create a litmus test that no presidential candidate from the left is going to get to the general election adhering to. This is typical Russian/Chinese propaganda, the same type of which was used to turn voters apathetic against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, which undoubtedly resulted in many, many people leaning left to abstain from voting.

        We’re not doing that again.

I agree and don’t want to support a party that is okay with continuing to meddle in the Middle East.

However, creating a litmus test for liberal voters that results in MAGA candidates being elected who support even worse policy is not the way forward.

However, creating a litmus test for liberal voters

Its not the fucking litmus test that lost them the election, it was the fucking candidates unwillingness to fucking meet the moment when the voters were incredibly clear about what their standards were.

You don’t get to decide what other voters standards are. You can only assess what they are and the advocate for candidates to meet those standards, otherwise, the candidates will lose. Its not more complicated then that.

You want Harris to have won? Then you should have been putting every iota of effort into getting her to change her policies on Israel and Gaza. There was no other path for her to take the white house.

If the above quote represents your understanding or thesis on how voting or elections work, you will continue to lose elections to Republicans on our behalf. You don’t get a choice on how voters behave, no matter how much tut-tutting or hand wringing you do.

You have to meet voters where they are at. You do not have another choice. What you are offering is a false equivalence, and is the very reason why Democrats lost to fascists. You don’t get a choice.

If a politician is unwilling to do even that what the fuck is actually the point of electing them.

          Literal nazi apologism

yup look at that user history. LOVES using the genocide cynically for their own selfish political goals, HATES anyone who talks about the genocide as it actually happened. Not good enough to murder children, with their blood fresh on your hands you have to pick them up by the dismembered shoulders and dance them around like marionette dolls begging to support their murderers to save their lives.

I think it’s fine to expect your party to be capable of doing things that aren’t accomplished by turning a single imaginary knob. Imagine applying this to any other situation: “sorry, there’s no ‘do the dishes’ switch so I’m gonna have to tell you to lower your expectations.”

Prices basically never go down, what you need is stability so that the earned income can rise to match the new prices.

On the flip side, there isn’t a whole lot the president can do to reduce inflation, but there sure as fuck is a lot they can do to make it worse.

Meme aside, I’m absolutely voting blue no matter who because

    1. Literal fascists are in control of our federal government.

    2. There is no viable 3rd party. No 3rd party is seriously trying to be viable. And American citizens aren’t taking 3rd parties seriously by voting for them in local/state elections. So there is absolutely no chance of a 3rd party accomplishing anything in the near or even remote future.

I’m not sure if anyone remembers, but none of this crazy shit was happening before January 2025. I’m voting to go back in that direction.

To be clear, I’m totally onboard with reforming the Democrat party by primarying out the bad actors. That’s way, way more likely than making a 3rd party viable in the short amount of time we have left before we aren’t a democracy anymore.

How the Hillary Clinton campaign deliberately “elevated” Donald Trump with its “pied piper” strategy

Hillary was more afraid of Jeb Bush than anyone else in the GOP field, because she thought she’d lose to him the same way Gore lost to his brother. So she brought in her close friend and mega-donor, Donald J. Trump as a stalking horse who could humiliate Jeb from the right. Trump was more than happy to campaign as a Republican, because he had a chip on his shoulder over Barack Obama sullying the White House with his black ass. So the two conspired to give Hillary a Presidency and Trump a lucrative grifting opportunity.

A vote for Hillary, in the primary, was effectively a vote for Donald to advance to the General.

Jeb’s campaign was powered entirely by his ability to brown nose his mega-donor base of support. It wasn’t that “Low Energy Jeb” mortally wounded his campaign. It was that Jeb never had much of a base of support to begin with.

There’s a fantastic exchange between Jeb and a constituent in New Hampshire, wherein the constituent bemoans the lack of quality plumbing and the need to rely on individual septic systems across the state. This is due to New Hampshire’s hard granite foundation, which is expensive to drill through when laying public works. The constituent asked Jeb how the federal government could assist in improving New Hampshire’s public works. Jeb responded that federal money going to New Hampshire public works would have infringed on the libertarian ideology of the state’s people and its founders.

At a town hall meeting in Raymond, Bush was asked three times about the small town’s strained septic system. “This is not the problem of the president,” Bush responded playfully. “I’m not going to solve your septic problem tonight, I’m afraid.”

This was on a bus tour he’d dubbed the “Jeb Can Fix It” event. (There’s a video archived somewhere, but this was the best reference I could find).

Nobody who was voting actually liked this guy. That’s why he came out behind both Kasich and Cruz in the NH primary.

Without Trump running, my money is on Cruz - or maybe Kasich - prevailing in the end.

Don’t forget the “Bi-partisanship” we needed after Jan 6th. Donald Trump tries to make a coup happen, but what we needed was “Bi-partisanship”. Whole Republican Party kept backing Trump’s play, and running cover for him, but we needed “Bi-partisanship”.

Still pissed about that particular speech even though it has been 6 years.

You might as well keep trying to impeach Trump. In fact, we’d think you have balls if after each defeat in the Senate, you drum up another impeachment vote.

And I’d like to remind you that Republicans passed the repeal of Obamacare repeatedly in the last two years of Obama’s presidency.

My country’s right-wingers, who I actually know and interact with, are horrid, despicable people who are constantly hate-criming minorities, holding back progress, and trying to bring back every backwards oppressive institution they can, they have no insight, nothing worth saying, they can’t be reasoned or negotiated with, and they ought to at least be shut out of the political process, if not forcibly reeducated or removed from society.

I don’t know much about right-wingers in communist countries, but presumably they must be heroic freedom fighters who should be blindly supported at every opportunity.

The majority of voters don’t want to abolish ICE. Just like they didn’t want to defund the police.

They want police to follow the law and be held accountable and ICE to not be used as Trump’s personal army.

This seems like an attempt to make leftists look bad by pushing a sentiment that is unpopular with voters

According to some polls, abolishing ICE is a majority position. Some of the most popular politicians support abolishing ICE. If more genuine politicians campaigned on it, offered good concrete policies, and communicated it well, I’d bet the sentiment would be even more widespread. I believe defunding the police could also become a majority position if that was done as well. Politicians have a great influence on public opinion.

I don’t like it, either, but it’s politically the smart thing to do (EDIT: I’m referring to not seeking impeachment here - ICE still needs to go for sure). Rather than reignite the partisan wars, show the less extreme Trump supporters that the other side is actually prioritizing “the people” & their needs more than Trump ever did - it’ll do more to win their support than attacking “their side” ever will.

I disagree. Democrats need to appeal not to reactionary right-wing or centrists, but rather people who did not vote, by using left-wing populist messaging to counter right-wing populism.

Look at the success of Mamdami as a template. That’s how we win - with candidates who are actually worth voting for, with policies that actively improve the lives of the working class, rather than the totally failed tactic of appealing to some mythical moderate voter with the “we’re slightly less terrible than the republicans” approach.

I don’t disagree with that, and I’m not saying Trumpers should be a priority, but attacking him is only going to stir up anger without accomplishing anything truly positive at this point. Plus Trump is at least a thorn in the puppet-masters" sides with his randomness, while Vance would be a good little boy and do exactly what he’s told by his handlers. I prefer Trump continue fucking up their plans a bit.
