I fully support Linux, but Firefox doesn’t deserve that kind of heat. Yes, the Mozilla Foundation has been in hot water over the press release describing the direction and implementation of AI into the browser. But compared to the competition they are still are far better then the rest.

Hasn’t human culture across history been sexualizing spiders in a similar way we also sexualize snakes?

1·3 months agoI am wondering, what are the most common multiplayer games that millenials gravitate towards? Are they playing more Battlefield, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends? Have so many of the industry titans like Call of Duty or Halo that they were raised on either shifted so much in direction and tone or threw corporate mismanagement driven themselves into the ground that they are no longer considered largely relevent to their demographic?
I see Bubba has moved past his redneck southern roots and decided to embrace modern health culture while still staying true to who he is.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% markEnglish
2·3 months agoThere, I fixed it. But we all know that such terminology is nothing but a marketing gimic. And any such AAAA games has been over budget and underwhelming.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% markEnglish
16·3 months agoI would say the next biggest hurdle that Linux gaming has to overcome besides market saturation is the compatibility with Triple-A multiplayer games and getting major developers on board. Franchises like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Rainbow Six Siege make up a large percentage of the hard-core video game player base and are incompatible with Linux due to their Windows level cornel anti-cheat or similar issues.

Trans Memes•It's shocking how little faith they have in their own god
8·4 months agoHe can’t actually say that and not face internal retribution from the Holy See, right? Not for the trans-phobia, but for the possible blasphemy. I understand that his statement could be taken metaphorical. But it still doesn’t place a good light on senior Catholic leadership.
The parables in German fairy tales are second to none in conveying the message to young children.

46·5 months agoActually, there was a high profile and notorious case of a female NASA astronaut and Naval officer named Lisa Nowak, who was placed on trail and convicted of felony burglary and misdemeanor assault charges. This all stemmed from an affair she was having with a fellow astronaut named Bill Oefelein, who both of them were married to different people at the time.
When Bill decided to call the affair off and started to see another woman, an Air Force Captain named Colleen Shipman. Lisa had an emotional breakdown and after her own marriage had failed. Planned on possibly kidnapping Colleen. She was eventually arrested at Orlando International Airport that she had followed Colleen to. Besides the criminal convictions listed above, she was dismissed from NASA and demoted in rank and forcibly retired from the Navy.

News@lemmy.world•Megathread: Charlie Kirk Shot at Utah Valley University Event
13·5 months agoWhoever the identity of the assassin is, they are clearly a good marksman. According to reports, they made that shot about 600 feet away from the rooftop of a nearby building. While Kirk was stationary most of the time, they landed a clean kill to the jugular with just one bullet and then made a quick getaway. That’s Lee Harvey Oswald levels of accuracy. While I wouldn’t estimate that the assassin was a hired professional. They likely have seasoned experience with firearms or possibly military or police training.
And the usual amount of the same people replying to them. But once great things usually started small. These are our grassroot contributors.
I am not criticizing the comic. It’s great. The concept, however, I have seen multiple times in various mediums. The webcomic franchise Cyanide & Happiness has a three-part animated comedy video sketch parody of the Jurassic Park franchise as well that was released several years ago.
This may be the finest example of a combination of psychological and physical birth control that I have ever seen. If taking off your shoes indoors is that much of a barrier to you in your life. You deserve to remain single.

1·7 months agoI have gotten conflicting information from a number of sources. Are ICE agents generally under compensated or well compensated compared to the average American salary? I know that law enforcement is generally well paid and usually takes home above the average US income. I know their are government pay scales and multiple other factors that go into calculating someone’s salary.
I am not saying that I don’t agree with you. But this country is still not even close to considering nationalizing its own telecommunication infrastructure. Much less a privately held space company and a service of communication satellites. A large chunk of America believes that a for-profit business model for every good and service possible in life is the best course of action.
I recommend purging the vengeful ghost or whatever evil spirit is haunting that place and getting out of whatever rural or abandoned town that building is located in. It’s likely in the upper northeast or midwest and would be the kind of place that Stephen King would set his next novel in.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Fediverse Isn’t the Future. It’s the Present We’ve Been Denied.English
9·11 months agoListen, I am a Lemmy supporter at the highest level. I believe that the Fediverse model for social media is the next step in evolution for the industry. But Lemmy itself, in terms of the front end, is a near exact copy of Reddit. And was created, at least in part, with the idea that from the beginning, it couldn’t be heavily monetized and become a profit-driven and publicly traded company. That it wouldn’t sacrifice the quality of the product and lead to the enshittification of the service like so many other digital offerings.
But currently, if you were to compare Reddit and Lemmy. Reddit’s digital content offerings are significantly better than Lemmy’s. Which makes sense. Reddit has been around for much longer than Lemmy and is much more known by the general public. It has a much larger user base as a result. Which for a user generated content platform is everything when it comes to the pool of individuals that can generate and submit interesting content.
