That doesn’t really work. If you know history, that is usually the beginning of the end for them. It only breeds hatred and resentment. If they start shooting people then people will actually stand up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a case where the authorities shoot a fairly large number of people and the people don’t rise up and fight back. They may not win, but it pretty much always leads to a fight, not just rolling over.

Sure, there are probably some examples where it’s not true, which is why I didn’t say it was 100% the case. Even Tiananman Square wasn’t the absolute end though. There were some other protests following it. Even today it’s still a rallying point for dissidents even with all the suppression. That’s why they’re suppressing it. If it didn’t work to turn others against them, and only worked to keep them from rising up, they’d want everyone to know about it. They’ve done everything they can to prevent this though, so the knowledge must be seen as dangerous to them.

That’s because the other shots were from the side, not the front. Because the murderer wasn’t actually in the path of the car.

Video is posted to Bluesky. The agent walks up to her car window and starts shooting almost immediately. One through the windshield the others through the driver’s side window.
The hole was pretty far off to the right, very possible the dipshit couldn’t even aim point blank and only managed to get one shot through the windshield despite multiple fired.
Officers were never endangered. She was killed because the government gave that goon the opportunity and because the president radicalized him.
I can guarantee the ICE agent is going to say he felt like his life was in danger, because she was accelerating towards him. The fact that he actively walked in front of her car and created that situation will conveniently be left out.

The old joke is that party democrats always manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Winning as a liberal would be laughably easy if the DNC would get out of the fucking way. Does she need to have your back? Was she even part of the dialogue until you whatabouted her into the conversation? She’s a shitty person and a fucking cop who supports bad historical policies that benefit the rich. But I can safely say that she wouldn’t invade a sovereign nation for her own personal gain. She doesn’t have a long history of fucking children and getting away with it. She wouldn’t tank the entire economy, remove people’s right to marry or get health care or endorse a reckless anti-vaxxer whose efforts will be felt for decades (but only by the survivors of outbreaks of what should be long extinct diseases). She would do shitty things to good people. She wouldn’t fix the system. But she wouldn’t be doing gestures around all of this. And maybe you can’t respect the idea of harm reduction. Maybe you don’t know a lot of people hanging on in the fringes or maybe you’ve crossed over it and don’t give a fuck about others anymore. But I still do. I still want my friends to live. The lesson to take away here is that you should treat EVERY interaction with ICE as if you are dealing with a hostile military presence. She should never have stopped her car in the first place.
Seems like waiting to interact with a hostile militant force is also the wrong idea. Seems like that hostile force needs to be actively run out of town.

I have been noticing the increased anger with people’s posts online, myself included. I just said yesterday that it feels like a tipping point and it’s not gonna take much to start the riots. This event feels like a heavy hand on the scale pushing everyone over the edge. I hope it’s not and we can continue the peaceful protests. But I don’t blame anyone for taking a stand.
The time for peaceful protests ended a long time ago.
For real. I don’t understand how no ICE officers have been shot by a bystander yet. Or at least met with a Black Panthers style armed militia of some kind at least.

People at the scene told our crews a woman was shot while she was in a car, which then appears to have crashed into a parked vehicle.

I just listened to a US politician on LBC radio trying to defend the ICE action. He claimed to have watched the video 20 times and said it was clear the driver was trying to run over the agent. I’ve just watched it and it’s clear the front wheels were turned well to the right avoiding the agent who walk across the front of the vehicle. If anything the driver was deliberately avoiding the agent.

Reminds me of that video from a few weeks ago of that cop ACTUALLY trying to run over a teenager and driving over grass and stuff to do it. Things are so messed up right now.
A group of men with guns surrounded her car and she fucking panicked. It’s not surprising she attempted to flee, it doesn’t take that much brain power to know to never use your body to stop a car and even the police would never use their bodies to stop a fuckin car.
There was no verbal warning, there was no negotiation with her. Nothing. She got murdered because she didn’t comply. Fucking pigs.

And note that this group is probably far less likely to be “murderers, rapists, and pedophiles” than the current Executive Branch of the US. Perhaps Secy McLaughlin will clarify this matter for us.
And it ONLY took them HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of Arrests to Find those 1000 Criminals!
Official stats are that less than 30% of ICE detainees have any kind of criminal record. And of that 30% who do, the vast majority are small offenses like traffic violations, being drunk outside a bar, etc…
That is my understanding as well. Which is what makes McLaughlin, and Noem’s mendacious responses so odious. They know they are wrong. They saw the same videos that by now a very large fraction of the US and the world has seen. These can be ‘crystalizing’ moments in which history pivots.
It was murder. Don’t let them spin the narrative.
