The worst part about eggy parents is it feels even more difficult to do anything about it.
I’m not trans, just scrolling past. But when I came out as gay to my mother she sobbed, then in an attempt to explain it away and convince me I’m not she said “everyone looks at people of the same gender, that’s normal. I do that all the time!”. Then later mentioned hating sex with my dad.
In the moment I was like “wtf” but looking back… Girl.
“There weren’t so many gay people back in my time; moral decay! Being gay is a choice! I love cock but married a woman I hate anyways and you should do the same” —paraphrased but way more common than you’d think
over the months i’ve become convinced that the panic about gay people was actually a panic about a falling birth rate all along …
I think it’s more a panic of admitting consciously that they wasted their lives living a lie.
Maybe but the birthrate shit almost always comes back to eugenics and racism
almost always but not always. sometimes it’s also just to have more fresh meat to churn through the
meatgrinderi meant workplaces.
And even more difficult to do anything about it 30 years later. How do you cope with the thought, “what if (they had been affirming and supportive)?”
Must be tough to have an egg parent tbh, in the sense that they’re probably so deep into Narnia that they don’t know there’s a world where they can leave the wardrobe
My grandfather after fighting in a few wars didn’t believe in PTSD. Called my Uncle’s PTSD bullshit. He said you have a couple of bad dreams then you get over it.
Feels like a similar concept
If they want to transition the opposite direction, sometimes they say affirming things while probably trying to be insulting because they’re convinced no one of their gender wants to be that way. Otoh, it makes it harder for them to understand why you’d want to transition and trying to convince someone who is 60+ and says they want to transition that they should just do it is hard…
Yeah I finally started the physical part in my mid-40s, now almost 50 and finally getting a few surgeries the next few years. But I’m in a huge rush since the system’s gate keeping and provider shortages takes so long to get through.
By 60s, you’ve basically past the point where you could get through wait lists and still be able to heal well from surgeries, so it really limits what you can do. And with all of the safety issues if you’re not able to get FFS, vocal feminization, and other appearance altering procedures so you can pass, you’re likely to just get beaten and raped, thrown in jail with people of the opposite gender to get beaten and raped, or just outright murdered. So I get their perspective. But they shouldn’t keep younger people from it just because they didn’t have the opportunity.
In this case the older person is my mom and she has done well passing as a guy lost her life without any surgeries or hormones and acknowledging that she’s not cis.
Denial is a pretty powerful quirk the brain does.
Break out of that glitch is often very difficult, and requires intervention. If only we had parents that could listen.Removed by mod

trans women can still make children if you find a compatible partner (and are willing to make some medical precautions)
