It literally starts in downtown in one major city, cuts through uninhabited wilderness, then around the state capital (but not in it) to another major city’s downtown core. Oh and grabs a third downtown core out to the east as well after going through another uninhabited wilderness.

EDIT: There are worse ones in the US, but this one (literally) hits close to home.
