If you’ve never played anything like it, then yeah it’s a mindfuck, but honestly there are better games in its “genre” (games that have 4th wall breaks).
OneShot is a story puzzle game, with some horror, that’s imo the best 4th wall breaking game out there.
serial experiments lain for the PS1 is also a good one, and that is explicitly psychological horror. Just uhh, it’s barely a game and extremely janky, however, the story is absolutely amazing. you can play it online at laingame.net, just… be ready for some (intentional) jank and an extremely weird, non-linear story. also heavy content warnings for everything in DDLC and more.

Care to recommend some? I’d love to have a look at some actually good examples.
Stanley parable, undertale/deltarune, and there is no game were all fun
I was hoping for something a little more “horror”/psychological, similar to what Doki Doki Literature Club did.
Thanks for the recommendations, though. I’ll check them out.

I’m more into the adventure and puzzle side of things myself, so I wouldn’t know any horror recs. Sorry! 😔
No problem. I got a few recommendations already, so I’ve got somewhere to start.
Oneshot is good at it imo
