That’s not Perry the platypus, that’s just a regular platypus
edit: I can’t read, that doesn’t say Perry
He knows that. He is just shocked that he should parry a normal platypus!
Parry the platypus?
platypus rolls eyes, puts on fedora
Parry Perry the Platypus?!?
not that its surprising as most people are but just fyi P&P creators are lowkey transphobic ;(
I watched this episode recently, and was trying to process how I felt about it. This is a trope that has long existed, and its never felt particularly transphobic. Intention matters a lot, and nothing about the episode pointed towards a particular critism of trans people. It might not be the best taste and make people uncomfortable, which is valid critism, but I dont think its intentionally transphobic.
Later in the series Perry is in a pink dress and Monogram says “Sorry about the dress, I know you’re more of an Autumn.” This kind of joke helps normalize the idea of wearing what you would like, and I think helps show the way the show approaches this.
Another episode was about the main female character being forced by her parents to be more effeminate, but accidentally ends up helping a time traveler save the city and the male team member of the time traveler went and did the traditionally effeminate activities like knitting or whatever. I think the episode was good taste and highlighted the idea of breaking traditional gender roles in a lighthearted and kid friendly way.
TLDR, I dont think the creators were trying to be transphobic, even if the episode in question was poor taste.
i thought doof was transmasc… hmm.
